Statement of Purpose

The purpose of Belmont Senior Services, Inc. (BSS) is to provide quality health and supportive services to clients in a residential and/or congregate setting, in an effort to assist each individual client to maintain his or her highest level of quality of life while living independently. The health and supportive shall include, but are not limited to, varying levels of health care, personal care, homemaking, nutrition, and transportation. These services will be provided in a cooperative effort and in conjunction with the client’s physician, case manager, family support system, and/or other community health care service members

Mission Statement

Belmont Senior Services Inc. will provide quality health and supportive services to clients in residential and congregate environments in an effort to minimize institutionalization while maintaining the client’s highest level of independent living. Management and direct service staff will be trained in proper safety techniques, dedicated to ensuring that services are provided in the safest manner possible for staff and clients. We will endeavor to provide these services with trained and caring personnel.

Overview

Belmont Senior Services receives strategic direction and leadership from our diverse and dedicated Board of Trustees, who serve without monetary compensation.

The services and day-to-day operations are carried out by a staff of 75 employees, all of which are committed to meeting the needs of our clients.

Belmont County is a very rural county located in the Appalachian region. According to the most recent census data, it has the distinction of having the second highest percentage of elderly population in the State of Ohio, with 18.2 % of its residents over 65 years of age.  The National average is only 12.1%.

Funding sources include: local senior service levies, the Older Americans Act (Title III), PASSPORT, Medicaid Waiver, State Block Grant funding, donations, planned giving (bequests), and other sources.
